About AcuMassage NW

WHAT IS ACUMASSAGE NW?

AcuMassage NW is a place for people with chronic pain, illness, and mood imbalances to reset their body-mind via the synergistic effects of acupuncture + massage "acumassage" with the individualized support of coaching so that they can achieve their health and wellness goals.

WHY DO WE EXIST?

AcuMassage NW was created to address a major gap in the treatment of chronic pain, illness, and mental-health issues in this country.  Research shows consistently that a more integrative approach with community support and coaching provides better outcomes for patients -- and it is clear that addressing the underlying stresses of daily life, difficult life transitions and traumatic experiences are equally important to create successful outcomes.  In a sense, AcuMassage NW exists to not only promote better health, but also to support the kind of deep healing that creates a fulfilling life.

WHO CREATED ACUMASSAGE NW?

AcuMassage NW was created in 2021 by Tabitha Marsh after relocating to McMinnville, Oregon during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Previously she was a Pain and Stress Relief Specialist for 26 years in the Portland, Oregon area -- combining her skills as a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, a Licensed Acupuncturist and Licensed Massage Therapist with a prior background in Counseling Psychology.

A Tribute to Two Movements

“A Way of Being” is a dual tribute to both Carl Rogers (Creator of the Human Potential Movement) and to the Mindfulness Movement.

Tabitha had been looking for a name for her practice for years when one day she was assigned a couple of books by Rogers to read for her Counseling Psychology program — chief among them was “A Way of Being.”

“Rogers had a great optimism for humanity and each individual’s power to change and improve their life.  He also embodied values of authenticity, empathy, and compassion in his work that were qualities that I wanted to bring to my practice.

Mindfulness, which is a core part of mind-body medicine and movement practices, was also reflected in the idea of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.”

HOW AWOB GOT IT’S NAME

“Rogers had a great optimism for humanity and each individual’s power to change and improve their life.  He also embodied values of authenticity, empathy, and compassion in his work that were qualities that I wanted to bring to my practice.

Mindfulness, which is a core part of mind-body medicine and movement practices, was also reflected in the idea of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.”

-Tabitha

In addition, the name reflects what A Way of Being has become — a place to reflect on our ways of being to see if they serve us and to adopt new ways of being that can transcend old beliefs, habits, fears and emotional patterns so that we can finally embrace our greatest potential for health and well-being.
